Megan-Ray-Bans is a collaboration between fashion designer and photographer Megan Rayner and famed international model, Megan Samuels. It is their first collaborative venture. The name is a play on the popular knock off sunglasses brand, Ray-Bans. The original Ray-Bans was created in the 1960s by Ernest Lazarus.
History
Megan Rayner and Megan Samuels met while working on a shoot in Paris, France, in 2012. They spent the next year and a half collaborating on ideas, collaborating on names, and collaborating on the branding of the new brand. In 2015, Rayner and Samuels officially launched the brand. Their first collection, released in May 2015, was an urbanized version of the Ray-Bans, incorporating both the design and color of the Ray-Bans and the Rayner aesthetic.
Style
The brand incorporates functionality and style. The line consists of sunglasses that are easily portable and that are shaped to fit a variety of face types. The lenses are thin and the frames are sturdy. They are also removable. Ray-Bans is often worn by musicians as well as models.
